“The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.”…….Psalm 19:9…..
When the Bible talks about the fear of the Lord it is referring to reverencing God. One of the meanings of the word fear is to reverence. When we fear something we are actually showing reverence to it. However, there are some things we shouldn’t reverence.
David said in Psalm 23:4, “I will fear no evil.” He was saying he would not give any reverence to evil. We shouldn’t either. When we receive an evil report we’re not to reverence it, but we’re to reverence God’s Word. We’re to reverence the report of the Lord. That’s why the Bible tells us so many times to “fear not”. So the next time bad news comes don’t show it any reverence, instead reverence God’s Word!
