“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” ~ James 5:16
Effective praying is the only kind of praying that we should be doing. We shouldn’t be praying just to be praying. We should be praying effectively. There are three important things that we need to know if our prayers are to be effective.
Those three things are:
- Our prayers must be in harmony with God’s Word. I John 5:14 says, “And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us.” We should always go to God’s Word and get scriptures to base our prayers on.
- Our prayers will not be answered unless they are offered in faith (Mark 11:24). That means that when you pray you believe that you have received what you’ve prayed for. No more acting or talking like you haven’t received it.
- Our lives must be in harmony with God’s Word and His will. John 15:7 says, “If ye abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” Living in harmony with God’s Word means living lives that are in agreement with the scriptures. The scriptures are to dictate our conduct in life.
If we’ll do these three important things all of our prayers will be effective. So if your prayers aren’t coming to pass don’t blame God, just check up and see if you are doing effective praying!
