“The sower sows the Word. And these are the ones by the wayside where the Word is sown. When they hear, satan comes immediately and takes away the Word that was sown in their hearts.” ~ Mark 4:14-15
I want to remind you about the importance of God’s Word in your life. To do that let’s take a look at Jesus’ teaching on the parable of the sower.
If satan comes after the Word immediately he must be afraid of it. He also must know how important it is to our lives. He knows it’s how faith comes to us and he knows that faith breaks his dominion in our lives. He also knows the Word is what feeds our spirits and keeps us spiritually strong. If we don’t put the Word in us on a daily basis we make his job of trying to defeat us that much easier.
As you read through the entire parable on the sower you’ll see that satan uses three primary things to steal the Word from us. First he uses doubt. The words “take away” in verse 15 of this parable can actually mean “make to doubt”. If he can get us to doubt the Word he’ll be able to take it away from us. The second thing he uses is discouragement. You can read about that in verses 16-17. The third thing he uses is distractions. You can read about that in verses 18-19. Don’t allow satan to rob you of the power of God’s Word through doubt, discouragement, or distractions. Also remember, if you’re not feeding on the Word regularly he doesn’t have to use any of those weapons to get the Word from you, you’ve already done his job for him.
