And Saul built an altar unto the LORD: the same was the first altar that he built unto the LORD. ~ 1 Samuel 14:35
This was some years into Saul’s ministry as king that he built his first altar unto the Lord. What a sad commentary that he waited so long to build an altar. It was God who anointed him to be king in the first place. You would have thought that he would have been grateful to God for entrusting him with such an honor. God had made him king over His people.
What about you? Do you build altars unto God? I’m not referring to altars made out of stone. I’m referring to altars in your heart. The altar of spending time thanking Him and in fellowship with Him through prayer and His Word. In the Old Testament the fire upon the altar was to never go out. You and I need to make sure the fire upon the altar of our hearts never goes out. We can do so by continually fueling it with fellowship time with God.
